| We knew about the work of
Leonard Cheshire through our local Cheshire Home and had attended
functions and given money for a few years. Through the residents we
learned that Leonard Cheshire had hundreds of different projects around
the world and they had contacts with a home in Uganda.
Last Christmas my mum, dad, husband and I all pledged to give up our presents and send the money we would have spent to the Ugandan Home - in the end we sent about £150. We were delighted a couple of months later to get a letter from the head of the Home, thanking us for the donation. She also sent us some photographs of residents using the walking aids that she'd spent our money on. My mum was especially thrilled to see how well the money had been used and to see the difference it made - ever since then, she's been badgering the rest of the family and all her friends to do it again this year! |
