Volunteers - Cath - Fundraiser

Sitting in the canteen coffee lounge on a Monday lunchtime, we were discussing our various weekend activities and I mentioned I'd been cycling with a friend. My colleague asked if I'd seen the leaflet on the local notice board about Leonard Cheshire's sponsored bike ride through Africa. He copied down the details and put it in the internal mail to me - more as a wind-up than anything, I think. But now he's looking very sheepish!

I'd just been reading the diaries of Alec Guinness and he spoke fondly of Leonard Cheshire. Here was the name again, and this time I found out some more about the man himself and the organisation he started.

My desire was to make a positive contribution and the fact that the trip is a unique opportunity to see Africa, prompted me to fill in the form. BP also has a 'matched giving' scheme, so the money I raise for Leonard Cheshire will be doubled by BP.

So with my form filled in and my sponsorship money pledged, now there's no going back!
